Sledding

We went sledding and it was so fun. We bought Victoria a snow suit and boots. When we got home and I put her snow bibs and boots on she fell down and said, "help, help I can't get up." It was the funniest thing I have ever heard in my life...all I thought about was The Christmas Story. We had both of the girls in their snow suits and just had so much fun. Victoria wanted to go down herself and on the way down she slowly fell over off the sled and just laughed.
She is reading now. We have started with her "A" book and she will read sentences and when I show her the flash cards she knows the words. I only read the book one time to her a week ago and when I started to read it again she told me the sentence. I was so surprised and surprised that she would look at a word on the flash cards and tell me the word without a picture by it. Elizabeth is just growing up so fast. She talks all the time and she tries so hard to sit up. She can sit up if I have her in my lap. She leans forward if she is in her swing and she sits up in her exersaucer, which she loves to be in. She loves her tummy and can raise her head when laying on her tummy, but she has been doing that for awhile now. She slobbers all the time and always has her hands in her mouth.
Here are some pics of the girls.

No more diapers

So, I have been working on potty training Victoria for the last 4 months but not being consistent. I would do it for 1/2 a day once ro twice a week and then I did nothing for about 1.5 months after Elizabeth was born. Last Sunday I decided with the help of Victoria that we were done with diapers. She has been in panties ever since and she even pooped on the potty the first day. She does not wear a diaper for nap and I will do night training in the next few months. She wakes up dry from the night and tells me that she has to go. That is the cool part, I don't have to ask her if she needs to go, she tells me that she has to go. It is so wonderful to have such a big girl. We sure love our girls a lot. We had family pictures taken yesterday and that was not fun. Victoria had been up since 6am and she was a bear when we got there. So, we did not get a lot of good pictures but you do what you can with what you have. I have updated the pictures on the side.

Backyard fun work

We have been busy trying to get our backyard finally done. This fall we are working on laying our brick walkway. Victoria likes to help us with the work and she makes it a lot of fun and sometimes a lot more work. She dropped her hammer on my fingers twice and it hurt so badly. I hope that you enjoy the photos and videos. I will have to post the other video later because Blogger won't let me download them both.

Our little singer

Victoria loves to sing to her babies. She sings Twinkle Twinkel little star all the time but when I try to record her she whispers it but today she sang a little of it for me. Pause the music below to hear her sing.

Elizabeth cooing and smiling

Here is the Video that I promised. Pause the music on the bottom of the page to hear her.

2 months old

EDElizabeth had her 2 month check-up yesterday. She weighs 12.8lbs and 23.5 inches long. She has gained 3lbs in 6 weeks and 1.5 inches in 6 weeks. She is so healthy and such a good little baby. She got 3 shots yesterday and she did really well. She did not cry with the 1st shot, cried a little with the 2nd and then she cried more with the 3rd. She only cried for a few minutes and then she was done. Last night was hard because she was in pain with her legs. She would wake up crying. She did not nurse a lot yesterday and last night because she is in pain and tired. We had a 4th year resident with our Dr and he was nice. He said that she could sleep through the night if we wanted her to without nursing her. But I will not do that, if she wakes up and wants to eat than I will nurse her. She slept in our bed last night and she was so hot. She feels better today temperature wise but she is still a little fussy. After she got her shots, Victoria was kissing her and telling her it is OK. It was so cute and adorable. I took a video of Elizabeth cooing and smiling. She does it all the time and has been for a while now. She is growing up so fast and it is sad. We bought a fire pit yesterday and Victoria had her first weenie and marshmallow roast. I gave her a smore and she took the chocolate out of it and ate that and gave the rest to Hercules. It was funny because it was stuck to her fingers and she could not get it off. Here are so pictures of Elizabeth and her video. I have also put in a picture of Victoria in her Chinese outfit her Aunt and Uncle bought her. The Internet so slow and I will post the video later.

6 Weeks Old

Elizabeth is 6 weeks old as of Tuesday. She can fit into 3-6 month clothes and they fit her good. Some of her 0-3 month onesies do not fit her in the length because she is so long. I will not find out all of her stats until November 12th for her 2 month check-up. She is getting so big. She has been able to hold her head up for minutes at a time since she was 3 weeks old. She started to coo at me and she respond to my voice. She laughs in her sleep and it is so cute. She just wants to grow up so fast and it is hard because she is doing more than Victoria did at this age and it makes me sad. my little girl wants to be so big now. We call her Jelly Bean because she is so chunky and I love it. We always said that our next child was going to be chunky, white and light haired. That is exaclty what we got. We have two little girls that are the opposite of each other. I took their pictures in the fall leaves and that was fun. Victoria loved to run through the piles of leaves and then lay down in them. Victoria can sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and it is so cute. I am trying to get in on vidoe so I can put it on here but she whispers when I am taping. She counts to 10 by herself. We are having so much fun with our little girls.

Family Update

Elizabeth went in for her 2 week appointment and man has she grown. She now weighs 9lbs 8oz and is 22 inches long. She is just 2oz short of gaining 2lbs in 2 weeks. I told her Dr it is because I am producing cream this time around and with Victoria it was more water than cream. She is getting better at her days and nights. She still gets up early in the morning and stays awake for 2 hours. It has not been fun since Victoria gets up at 7am anyway. I am not getting much sleep but what can you do?! Elizabeth is a great baby and changing everyday.

Victoria got a bike and she likes to ride it. She has not been playing much because she wants to be with her sister all the time. I can lay Elizabeth on the floor and Victoria will go and lay by her and kiss her. Victoria will go to her play pen and touch her head. If I ask her to check on her sister she will go and look at her and tell me if she is awake or sleeping. I could not have asked for Victoria to be any better than she is to Elizabeth. I trust her 100% with her sister. I will have Elizabeth on the floor and go into the kitchen and know that Victoria will not hurt her in anyway at all.

It has been hard adjusting to two kids but we are doing it and it is working. It helps that Victoria is not jealous or hurtful to Elizabeth. I am enjoying my two girls and cannot wait until they grow up and we get to do mother and daughter things together. Papa loves his girls like there is noone else in the world. He has a hard road ahead of him with two little girls to look after and protect.

Elizabeth Angelina Quintana is here!!!

Starting Monday, September 15th I called the Drs office becasue I was not feeling well. I had been battling high blood pressure and that day was the 4th day of migraines and white flashes of light and Elizabeth was not very active. They told me to come in for a non-stress test. Elizabeth reacted just fine and then we went ahead and had my appt since I was already there. My blood pressure was high on all 4 checks and the last one was 140/100 so my Dr called the hospital to see if they had any beds available. They did not have anything until the next morning. She said that I would be OK but told me what to look for. I was having contractions all day and thought that maybe I would go into labor myself. I went to bed...yeah right...laid there while I was having contractions. They were anywhere from 10-30 minutes apart. At 3am is when they were 3 mins apart and I decided to call the hospital because I thought that my water had also broken. They said I could come in but if I was not in labor and they needed the room they would send me home. I was mad because I was going to be induced anyway so, I called my Dr and she said to go in. We got there at 4:45am. They put me in a room at 5am and the contractions had stopped. A nurse finally came in at 5:30am. She got my IV going and called my Dr. They started the pitocin and antibiotics at 6am and my water broke at 6:30am. The labor was going fine. I was able to breathe through the contractions and had breaks between them unlike Victoria's labor. Then at about 7am the contractions were on top of each other and the pain was just like Victoria's. I asked the nurse, who by the way name is Elizabeth too, when it was too later for the epidural. She said the Dr was going into surgery at 8:45am so I needed to do it soon if I wanted it. I wanted to see how it would go and by 7:15am I was telling her to get him in there NOW!!! He arrived at 7:30am got me all hooked up and 1/2hr later the pain was still unbearable and I had already pushed the button twice for more drugs. The nurse had to get the Dr to give me more meds and then I was numb from my chest to my feet. It was scary to be that numb. During all this I am shaking so bad that I looked like I was having seizures. The blood pressure cuff could not get a reading and thought I was dead the whole time. I told the nurse at 7:45am that I felt like I had to push so she checked me and I was a 3-4cm. Once the epidural worked an hour later I felt like I was on cloud nine. Louis and the nurse had to keep turning me so one side would not be more numb than the other. The numbness started to go away and I could feel again which was a happy moment for me. At 10:30am I told the nurse that I had to push and she checked me and I was 10cm. She had to find my Dr who was doing a c-section and then headed to a hysterectomy. She caught her as she was going to the other hospital to do the surgery. I kept having the nurse check to see if the baby was coming out because of all the pressure. She said no, but also not to push becasue she would come out in one push. My Dr arrived at 10:50am. They got everything ready and with my next contraction I pushed 3 times and she was out. Her head came out in two pushes and her body with the last push. Louis and I of course were crying to see our baby girl. Victoria was there and watched me give birth to her sister and that was special for us as a family. She weighed 7lbs 10oz and was 20inches. She was born 9-16-08 at 11:02am. We went home the next day at about noon. It is so good to feel complete with my girls and to have a great husband. He is such an incredible man and I am so thankful to have him by myside through the pregnancy and labor. We are happy to be home and happy that we are all healthy. ELizabeth is a great little nurser and she eats all the time. My milk came in the day after she was born. Victoria is just how I imagined her to be. She is not jealous at all and is totally in LOVE with her sister. She helps get diapers, wipes, bath time and picks out Elizabeth's clothes. She wants to kiss her, touch her and hold her all the time. She wakes up asking for her and goes to bed asking for her. It is so great to have Victoria as a big sister and to behave the way she does. We are very blessed with two beautiful little girls and cannot wait to see what our future has in store for us.

37 Weeks

Tuesday night at 10:55 pm I started to have contractions that were 5 minutes apart. I had a few that were 2 minutes and 8 minutes apart but the majority of them all were 5 minutes. They lasted until 12:30 am. I was so tired at that point. I also started to shiver like I was freezing and thought to myself here we go. I did the same thing while in labor with Victoria. We had our Dr's appointment yesterday. I keep losing and gaining the same pound for at least the past month or longer. My utersus is now measuring 40cm and I have dropped. Elizabeth is head down also. My blood pressure was high again like last appointment. She took it a second time and it was still high. My Dr decided to give me a non-stress test and have me do blood work to check for pre-eclampsia. During the non-stress test I was having a lot of contractions and one really good one. The nurse came in to check the progress and did not like the response she was getting from Elizabeth. They like the heart rate to jump 15 beats and stay there for 15 seconds. She had a device that would send a noise to her and check her response. The first buzz, Elizabeth did not respond at all, so she buzzed her again and got a better response. I am waiting for the lab results today and then we will go from there. I am already dialating and things are happening. I am assuming that if the lab work does not come back good that she will start me. I am still having contractions but they come at night just like Victoria. If I remember right with her, I had a few night of contractions and then the real labor began. So, we are just playing the waiting game right now and seeing what Elizabeth wants to do.

Pregnancy Update

I will be 35 weeks tomorrow. At my Doctor's appiontment yesterday I was measuring 38 weeks, Elizabeth's heart rate was 140 bpm. I lost a pound so I am up to a total of 11lbs gained. I am at my every week appointments already. I have been having a lot of back pain, pressure and contractions. She said that she would like me to make it another 3 weeks but if I do go early she will not stop my labor but give me probably steriods. At my last ultrasound Elizabeth was in the 68th percentile. So, we are just trying to take it easy and let her stay in there for as long as she can. I am not the type to just sit around and do nothing but I am trying to. I just have so many things that I need to get done before she comes. Only 4-5 weeks left until I am due depending on which due date we go by. Victoria now goes up to my belly and says, "Doctor", and I say to her, "Is the Dr going to take mommy's baby out?" and she says, "Yes". She really understands a lot and it is so cute how she is with this whole process.

Ultrasound

We had our 5th ultrasound today. We had to check on the size of the baby because of the measurements of my uterus. Elizabeth, yes it is confirmed that she is a girl, weighs 3lbs 11oz and her heart rate was 165bpm. She was a wild monkey while they were trying to get all her measurements. She is always a wild monkey in there but I love it. We did get to see her hip bones which was cool. There was a lot of shadowing becasue her bones are so dense now. When they were looking at her heart and abdomin her ribs were casting shadows it was so cool to see that. She had her foot in her hand at one point and that was cute. We were able to see her knee cap. She is so long that they had to break her spine up in 3 sections in order to look at it. They took a 4D picture of her face and that was the best thing I have ever seen. There are two dark spots on her forehead because that is where the transducer was. This was a great ultrasound unlike the one we had at 20 weeks. They are measuring me bigger than I am. They gave me a due date of 9-11-08. I will have to wait to see if my Dr moves my due date. Last week at the Dr I gained 5lbs so I am now up 10lbs. My blood pressure was high but when they took it before I left it was normal. I hope that it stays normal because I don't want her to come until she is ready in 8 weeks or less. I feel great besides being tired all the time and being HOT. Victoria is really good at letting me sleep for an hour on the couch if I need to. She is doing swimming lessons again and she is doing so well. She loves to ride on the boat, she can move her arms forward while kicking, she loves to jump off the wall, walk off the couch and she goes under the water a little and she is starting to blow bubbles in the water. Well, I think that is it for now. Victoria is doing great. She is putting 2 and 3 words together now. She still loves her sister and loves to kiss her and talk to her. Can't wait to see her in action as a big sister.

Our 9 year Anniversary

Today we celebrated our 9 year anniversary. Louis was the first to wake up and tell me happy anniversary and it was cute. He made a big deal that he said it first. I took Louis out on a date to the movie and dinner. We have never gone to out to eat without Victoria yet so, this was a first. We saw Get Smart and it was so funny, you need to go see it. Louis spent like 3.5 hours last night looking for a special gift for me that I wanted. He could not find it but today we found it. I actually got 2 gifts. He got me my window decals for my truck that are of our family, the little people. I have wanted them forever. Then we went to look for some jewelry. This lady that helped us found me the piece that is just perfect. I wanted a pendant that was of a mother holding her baby but I was hoping to find one with her holding two kids. Well, we could not find it but she found a mom and dad holding two kids. It is just perfect for our family since we are only having the two. I love it so much. I hope that you like it too. It was a great day. Can't believe that it has be 9 years. It has been 9 wonderful years of us growing together and creating a beautiful life and family. I am blessed to have Louis in my life, as my husband, my best friend and my life partner. I love you Louis!!!

A first for Victoria and I

On Monday I had to leave Victoria for the first time in her 17 months of life. I have left her when she is sleeping but never awake. I had to attend a convention for Charter Schools. I was not only leaving her but I was going to be an hour away and it was all day for two days. Monday I was gone for 8hrs and Tuesday I was gone for 9hrs. When I left the house on Monday, I called Louis crying telling him I can't do it. He assured me I could and I did. I called her a billion times. When I got home that night we hugged for what seemed liked hours. When I left Tuesday, she cried for a few minutes and then was OK. It was the hardest thing that I have had to do. I knew that she would be OK but it was just the first time leaving her. She was with her Mama and was well taken care of. Well, we both survived and it was good for the both of us. I just don't want to do it again....until the baby comes and I have to leave to have the baby. I am a crazed mother who never wants to leave her kids....hehehe.

Officially a Big Girl now

So, I have tried to get her to sleep in her bed but she wanted nothing to do with it until today. At nap time I put her in her bed and laid in it with her until she fell asleep. She slept for 1.5 hrs in it. Tonight, after her bath I asked her if she wanted to sleep in her bed and she said bed and ran into her room. I read her 3 books every night and then sing to her. So, after our books she got into her princess bed, with her princess pajamas on, I sat on the edge on the bed and sang to her. She is fast asleep in her bed now. It is a bitter sweet moment. I am so proud of her being a big girl and on the other hand it is sad because my baby is no longer a baby. As parents we are so proud of the accomplishments that our children make. Some just break our heart and this one breaks mine. I cried tonight watching her turn into a big girl. She is going to be such a great big sister and I cannot wait to see her in action. I just love her so much and part of me never wants her to grow up but she has to and it is so beautiful to be able to be home 24/7 to be able to watch her grow before my eyes. She is my proudest moment ever in my life. She fills my heart with so much love and joy that I am over whelmed with pride for her. I took a picture of her sleeping at nap time. Hope you enjoy the picture of a big girl.

Doctors appt

We went to the Dr yesterday. Elizabeth's heart rate was 153 bpm and I am measuring 30cm. I am 25 weeks tomorrow. I grew 5 cm in one month. I gained 2lbs so, I am up 5lbs so far gained this pregnancy. She is going to do another ultrasound next month because I am measuring so big. I forgot to ask her what that would mean, measuring big, but I am guessing that it would mean that my due date would be moved up. At my last ultrasound the Tech measured me 5 days before my Dr's due date. We will see how it goes next month. After that appointment I will be every two weeks and then once a week. We went and toured the hospital, since neither one of us had been there before. They are remodeling and we hope that it will be done before I have her. We are excited to see her again and confirm that she is a her. The ultrasound pictures that the Tech said are a girl are not very convincing.
Yesterday, we also moved the spare bedroom stuff out of Victoria's big girl room and got it all ready. It is so dang cute. I tried to have her sleep in her big girl bed last night but she wanted nothing to do with it. We tried again at nap time today and still no luck. It will take some time and that is why I wanted to start before the baby comes. She loves to play in her new room with all her babies and in her house. She is such a big girl now.

Victoria and her fish

So, we bought Victoria some fish because she loves animals so much. Went to Wal-Mart and just bought the cheap little goldfish. She was so happy and was always talking to them everyday. Well, the next day one died and I went and got another one. That night the new one died and another one died. I was just so frustrated that they were dying. We had just one left in the tank and a week later that one died. Luckily, she was too young to know that her fish were gone. So, we went to a fish store and bought some more expensive fish and we have had them for a week now. She tells them good night and good morning everyday. It is so cute. She will go up to them wave and say hi fish. She is just in love with her little fish. I have pictures of the original fish that we got but not the new ones. I also have a picture that I took of her and Hercules looking out the window and it is so adorable. We are just so thankful to have this little angel sent from above in our lives. She brings us so much joy and I could never express to her enough just how much I love her and how thankful I am that she is mine. She does the cutest things ever and I just laugh at her. She knows that she is not allowed to play in Hercules' water dish. I catch her thinking about it and she looks at me, smiles, closes her eyes and laughs. I just laugh at her and tell her to get out of the bathroom. When she wakes up early in the morning and won't go back to bed. I put her in bed with me and when she wakes up again, I pretend that I am still sleeping and she will come over to me and kiss me a million times and lay her head on me. She is just the sweetest little girl ever. She runs around the house with a blanket over her head, she will run into the wall, fall down and laugh. She loves to play ring around the rosies with her Papa and by herself. Now, don't get me wrong she can be a princess and then that is when she is placed in timeout. Speaking of timeout, today she put her baby in timeout. When Hercules is barking, she will tell him to shut up because that is what I tell him to do. Louis says that she is a little mommy. She will do whatever I am doing, cleaning, picking up, cooking and when it is time to eat she will call for Papa to come eat. Honestly, when I think of how much I love her, tears come to my eyes. I waited so long for her and she is better than I ever expected my baby to be. She is growing up to be such a beautiful little girl.

Victoria and Elizabeth

Well, Victoria can say her sister's name. It is so cute to hear her say Elizabeth. She will watch a baby being born on TV and then come over to my tummy and say baby. She loves to kiss Elizabeth and she says hi to her all the time. I am so glad that she loves her so much already and she hasn't even met her yet. They will be the best of sisters ever.

Victoria has a Little People Zoo and she is getting pretty good with the animals and finding the letter on the board. She can name 10 animals out of the 27 and she can find about 5 of their letters on the board. I did a video of her naming them and finding some of the letters. She is just talking up a storm. She loves disney princess and of course her new room is disney princess. She wants to wear her princess pajamas every night. She loves to play with her babies, she feeds them, rocks them to sleep in the cradle and she covers them with a blanket. She is such a little girl and I love it. She loves to ride daddy and Hercules like ponies. She can hear a word once and then says it right away. She can recognize the numbers 1-5 and say her numbers 1-10, well sometimes she says one. I say one and she will say two. It is funny. She is just really amazing and we are so very proud of her and how well she is doing.

Ultrasound

Inside circle are the nose, upper lip, lower lip and chin
Kiwi is looking up, the upper lip is proturding out the most

Kiwi's hand by face

Me at 20 weeks 5 days

So, our ultrasound was on Monday, May 5th. It was not as pleasant as it was with Victoria and I felt bad because Louis missed Victoria's. The Tech was all business and not very personable at all. She could not get the DVD machine to work so we did not get a DVD. She took some horrible pictures and it was just not fun. Victoria during the whole thing just kept saying baby, it was really cute. We she measured all the vital parts and the baby looks great and it measuring about 1 week ahead of my due date but it did not get changed. The heart rate was 151 and my tummy measured 25. Which from my understanding is only suppose to be about two weeks plus or minus your week in your pregnancy. 25 was 5 weeks ahead for me. The baby was laying face down and it was hard to gets it's face. We did get a cute picture of Kiwi's foot and great pictures of Kiwi's hands. It was so wonderful to see Kiwi. We could not get a good face picture but she did get the lips and nose side profile. Hope you enjoyed the pictures.

So, we decided to find out the sex of our baby. We went back and forth on the issue and wanted to know. Then we were not sure if we were going to tell anyone or not. We decided to tell you in a fun way. We would appreciate it if you do find out the sex to not tell anyone else. We want everyone to find out themselves. The only ones who will know are the ones that read our blog and can find out the answer. We thought it would be fun to play a little game. So, here it goes.

The baby's name is _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _. The hints are a book in the Bible and a Queen. If you remember the names that we told you we had picked out it will be easy for you or it may be a challenge. If you find out the name you can e-mail or call us with you answer. We hope that you have fun playing our baby game.

Family day at the Zoo

Train ride

Hanging out eating friut snacks

Me and mommy with the Elephants

Papa acting like a Gorilla

Mommy and her baby

Me touching the world water globe

It was a fun day at the Zoo. We saw just about all the animals. We saw a Tiger and it was playing in a tire that had some treats in it. We went to the Elephant progam and that was fun. I had more fun talking to some teenage girls behind me. I ate some Kettle corn, french fries, chicken and apples. I saw some baby ducklings and feed them some food. At the Penguin encounter about 4 of them were standing at the edge of the rock ready to jump in, when they all looked up at the same time and walked away. It was pretty funny. I liked the Giraffes the best and we spent a lot of time looking at the baby. I got some furry little animals that came in a carrying case so I can take them with me places. It was a nice day to spend with my Mommy and Papa. I hope that you enjoyed the pictures that were taken.

Love, Victoria
